Kelly Ellis, the founder of The Mortgage Mom, talks to us about her varied role as a Mortgage Adviser and running her own business.
No day is the same when you are an adviser!
In a day in the life of a mortgage adviser, I have to plan my working week in advance as much as possible as there is always a mix of appointments, research and admin to complete.
I tend to only book appointments with clients and relationship managers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This means that on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I can concentrate on research, client cases, and the administrative side of things which can take up a lot of time.
I also have to plan my marketing strategy and always aim to allow at least half a day on a Friday to plan ahead for the weeks social media plan.
Good organisational skills are so important!
When completing client research it helps to block out time of one hour per client, switching off the phone so there are no distractions. Being able to prioritise and stay on top of your working day is a must in this job.
My advice would be to chunk everything up and just complete one task at a time otherwise you do run the risk of getting in a muddle with your cases!
