I have been a Mortgage Broker for 17 years!
Starting with a part time job with First Active / Virgin One Account when I was at university, I did my CeMAP while working as a teller at Norwich and Peterborough Building Society.
After graduation, I moved to London with Nationwide. I then became a whole of market broker starting at Just Mortgages and a few other smaller Estate Agency firms.
I spent two years managing a team of mortgage brokers, which I honestly did not enjoy as I prefer to be face-to-face and talking with clients!
After being made redundant last year, I finally felt I had the right experience to take the leap to becoming a self-employed adviser.
After I decided to become self-employed, I researched several different networks and spoke with lots of recruiters. There are quite a few different ways to be self-employed in the industry, so it’s important to research all the options.
I felt that the Tenet Financial Services model of being self-employed (but with added support) fitte where I was in my career. So, I joined in March 2023.
The admin team are absolute super stars! The levels of support they provide navigating the tricky IO systems, managing commission payments, and uploading all the documents is fantastic.
It’s also good to have an IT support team behind you when things go wrong and not having to worry if personal devices have adequate virus protection and comply with ever changing regulations.
Finally, the business support and ideas from Mark and the team at TFS has helped me to develop lead generation strategies of my own, and having monthly meetings helps you to feel you are not on your own all the time!
