Lead Generation Support for Self-employed Mortgage and Protection Advisers

Being a self-employed adviser can be challenging, especially if you have a limited client book or are new to the industry. Support with lead generation is critical for advisers to achieve profitable business goals. But where do you start?

Being recognised as a ‘Top Rated Advice Firm’ in 2023, Tenet Financial Services (TFS) are proud to have developed into one of the largest adviser groups in the UK. The process of attracting clients is a skill TFS has developed over their 25 years in the business, which in turn creates a valuable source of lead generation support for TFS advisers.

In this article Tom Atley, a Mortgage and Protection adviser at TFS, shares his experience, his career journey to date, and how TFS helps him to gain all-important leads.

My Background

I have been a Mortgage Broker for 17 years!

Starting with a part time job with First Active / Virgin One Account when I was at university, I did my CeMAP while working as a teller at Norwich and Peterborough Building Society.

After graduation, I moved to London with Nationwide. I then became a whole of market broker starting at Just Mortgages and a few other smaller Estate Agency firms.

I spent two years managing a team of mortgage brokers, which I honestly did not enjoy as I prefer to be face-to-face and talking with clients!

After being made redundant last year, I finally felt I had the right experience to take the leap to becoming a self-employed adviser.

How I became a TFS Adviser

After I decided to become self-employed, I researched several different networks and spoke with lots of recruiters. There are quite a few different ways to be self-employed in the industry, so it’s important to research all the options.

I felt that the Tenet Financial Services model of being self-employed (but with added support) fitte where I was in my career. So, I joined in March 2023.

How does TFS help with lead generation?

TFS provide a steady flow of leads with various types of customers and circumstances. Some of them have needs that I have not dealt with before which has meant that my knowledge and experience has grown further in the 6 months I have been working here!

The admin team are absolute super stars! The levels of support they provide navigating the tricky IO systems, managing commission payments, and uploading all the documents is fantastic.

It’s also good to have an IT support team behind you when things go wrong and not having to worry if personal devices have adequate virus protection and comply with ever changing regulations.

Finally, the business support and ideas from Mark and the team at TFS has helped me to develop lead generation strategies of my own, and having monthly meetings helps you to feel you are not on your own all the time!
